GWOC STUDENT MINISTRY GOALS FOR 2010 – 2012 Pastor Donnie Lewis
Next Level Student Ministry is our new name, formally E3. We feel that Next Level better identifies who we are and reflects the overall vision of Grace World as it relates to the student ministries of our church.
Vision Statement: We exist to create an atmosphere for young people to experience the presence of God, to disciple them in the things of the Lord, and commission them to impact their world around them.
Ministry Goals and Vision for Next Level in 2010 and 2012
- Intern Team
-
*Adding new intern team members and giving them more opportunities to minister, lead and reach
their goals and to assist us in meeting the goals of Next Level.
-
*Turning servant evangelism over to our intern team and the students of Next Level, with the
-
supervision of a few key adult leaders.
- Discipleship
-
*Adding an intensive discipleship program for those students who have a desire to go even deeper
-
into the things of God.
- Worship
-
*Adding students to our team who have a passion for worship and the move of God.
-
*Continuing to create an atmosphere to allow our students to experience the power of God through
-
worship and in turn learn how to worship God on their own.
- Missions Ministry
-
*Giving our kids the opportunity to go outside the walls of our church by participating in missions
-
trips – both domestic and international.
-
*Continue to train mobilize our students to reach their school campus as missionaries.
- Missions Giving
-
*Putting a greater emphasis on missions and giving. We want to increase our contributions to Speed
-
the Light($7500.00 goal in 2010) and stir up faith in our young people to sacrificially give. We also
-
will be allowing opportunity to give to our GWOC missionaries (Steve and Donna Mirabella) on a
-
regular basis.
- Wednesday Night Services
-
*Being even more relevant in the message while not compromising the Gospel.
-
*Creating a service that makes our students want to invite their friends.
*Keeping our facilities clean, fresh and current with the youth culture.
*Allowing our students to have a say in the order of services as well as more student participation in
the services.
* Hold quarterly “Excite Nite” services that are theme based and evangelical in nature to make it
“easy” for our students to invite their friends to church.
- Prayer
-
*A stronger focus on prayer and intercession. We will continue to recruit students with a heart of
-
intercession to our Wednesday night intercession service. We will be placing a higher level of
-
accountability to our students to participate in our pre-service prayer each week.
- Follow up
-
*Expanding our follow up procedures. Keeping track of our newcomers (Guests) and getting them
-
plugged into our home groups.
- Home groups
-
Expanding our number of home groups. This is a vital backbone ministry of Next Level, which allows our leadership and influence to be multiplied.
-
Ground Zero
-
We will continue to keep Ground Zero (our Jr. High Ministry) relative to the 6th through 8th grade student. This will be a service time mixed with high energy activity, intense praise and worship and a mix of relative talks and small group meeting.
CHILDREN’S CHURCH GOALS FOR 2010 – 2012 Pastor Jim Markham
3-D Children’s Ministry
Discovery – Discovering the Word of God!
Discipleship – Becoming a follower of God!
Desperation – God is their only source!
3-D children's ministry will provide an atmosphere that the children will enjoy and become full followers of the gospel. It is our goal to bring Christ to each child no matter where they are spiritually while presenting Him in a language and method they understand. We know that each child is unique and that is why we have various ministries which geared to meet them at their own level of spiritual development.
- We will have several days where children can invite their friends and neighbors during the year. We will have the a Birthday Party Celebration Day, Birthday Party for Jesus, Harvest Day, Sweet Tart Day, Easter Celebration Service day, and many other days for children to reach out to their friends.
- We are going to host a Regional Puppetry Festival in April. This will provide training in puppetry, human video, Children’s Ministry skills, and leadership workshops. This Festival will reach up to 400 participants from various ministries from the state and country.
- In June we will hold a Kids Crusade instead of Vacation Bible School. This innovative endeavor will give an opportunity for the kids to invite their friends and family to come to church. This will require additional funding added to present Children’s Ministry budget.
- We will strive in our services to teach leadership roles to teens and young adults that will help our volunteers become faithful workers, lay volunteers, and ministry leaders in the future. These students and adults are altar workers, greeters, ushers, security, crowd monitors, and leaders in worship and teaching.
- We also train kids and young teens in evangelism, music, drama, and puppetry. This will help them learn how to impact their generation for Jesus. Not only will these students become our workers each week in leading games, lessons, teaching Bible verse, we will strive to raise up teams that can help with Regional Puppetry Festival, community outreaches, other churches, and mission trips.
- In October we will have a family outreach that will help bring in families to our church. This activity will be on October 31 and have facets that will appeal to the entire family unit. We would like to conduct a event that was similar to the one where booths, games, prizes, and activities were rented for all ages. This would entail in increase to the present Children’s Ministry budget.
- In 2009 the Children's Ministry was under budget and we will strive to be under budget in 2010.
- We will also utilize data base to develop email mailings and newsletter outreaches. As the data base is a little over a year and a half old, we will work on updating children’s photos, verifying complete and correct information, and changing children’s station defaults as necessary.
- We will continue to facilitate the Nursery staff in the development of new procedures, development of procedural handbook, training of volunteers, and completion of theme rooms and decorations. We will work on updating and compiling a new Nursery manual and Worker packet.
- We will outreach events to children's gatherings in Hernando County with ice-cream truck handout free ice cream at the events.
- We will create a new logo for 3-D children's ministries.
- We will incorporate a new fund-raiser for kid’s camp in addition to the candy sales. Children will have the opportunity to sell fund-raiser cards to raise monies for camp.
- We develop curriculum for special events (Harvest Day, Sweet Tart Day, etc). where student/adult ministry leaders will write and minister with their original ideas lessons, games, memory drills, etc.
- We will develop videos of children in service for special events and to log children as they are active in ministry.
- A special training will be conducted for children are exhibiting special gifting such as teaching, prophetic ministries, healings, worship, etc.
- A special service will be prepared and presented to the adult congregation upon the return from kids’ camp with testimonies, ministries, video, drama, and recognitions.
- We will develop, write, train, and utilize teens interested in preparing for and Participating in the District and National Fine Arts Team.
- Special consideration will be given for recruiting of teens and adults as workers, Registrars, leaders, altar ministries, Mission trainers and team members for use in the Children’s Ministry.

CONGREGATIONAL CARE GOALS 2010 – 2012 Pastor Bob Brosher
2010 In-Reach Goals - Congregational Care
I. Re-structure of Deacon Ministry
The NT deacon functions primarily as a Servant Leader and more specifically at GWOC, as a Care Giver.
They must be a mature and well-grounded believer, who embodies the following abilities and functions (as
in this acronym for DEACON):
D = Disciples new believers
E = Engages in relationships
A = Affirms the Pastor’s Vision
C = Cares for the sheep
O = Offers Encouragement
N = Notices areas of need and finds ways to help
A. The Key Reasons for Restructure are “simplicity, relevance, and efficiency.”
B. The deacon mottos remain unchanged.
1. “No Member Left Behind”
2. “No Attendee Unattended”
C. Immediate Changes:
1. Old deacon groups are now discontinued.
2. All assignments will now be made by the Alpha system.
a) According to the first letter of the last name
b) For example, if your last name begins with letter “A”, you will be assigned to a deacon who has
been designated for the letter “A.”
3. All members/attendees are assigned in same manner.
4. Energy will be focused to primarily respond to those requesting help.
a) That means that the responsibility is now being shifted more on the member or
attendee to initiate a contact with their deacon
b) Exceptions: where the need has been made known to the church of a sickness,
hospitalization or life challenge.
5. Deacon information will be provided in the weekly bulletin.
6. Deacon contact information will be posted in prominent areas.
7. A Deacon Facilitator will provide ongoing enrichment and development classes and serve to hold
all deacons accountable.
8. A Deacon Orientation will be provided to new deacons, which are appointed by the Pastor.
9. Deacons will actively engage with new member assignments and meet with them at
New Member Meals (usually 3x per year) and other events such as “Pizza with the Pastor.”
II. Re-emphasis on Small Groups and Layers of Interaction
A. Encouraging Small Group Development
1. Support Groups (Examples: Divorce Care, Grief Share, “Surrendering Your Secret”-abortion, MS
Support and others)
2. Interest Groups (Grace Home Schoolers Co-Ed)
3. Ministry Groups (Marriage Enrichment Class/ Pre-Marriage counseling)
4. Fellowship Groups (Grace Groups)
B. Recruiting and Training of Small Group Facilitators
C. Strengthening our Visitation Team Ministry
– Spring and Fall Recruitment Seminar: “Ready, Start, Go”
D. Planning Seminars to Strengthen the Family (Marriage Enrichment / Parenting Skills)
E. Five Layers of Spiritual Guidance (or “godly counsel”)*
1. Interaction with GWOC services and hearing the Word taught and preached.
a) Pastor’s Weekly Messages
b) Life Hour Classes
2. Interaction with your Deacon
a) Your deacon is available for prayer and encouragement.
b) This should be a first line of communication.
c). Upon request to the office or deacon directly, you should expect a contact within
48-72 hrs.
3. Interaction with a Life Line Team Member
a) This is a short list of mature Christians who are available to provide a listening
ear and encouraging Word with prayer support.
b) All have completed a basic spiritual guidance course that addresses the skills
needed to provide basic Bible direction and prayer support.
c) This course is available at least once per year for recruiting new helpers.
d) Upon request to the office, you should receive a contact within 48-72 hrs.
4. Interaction with a Staff Pastor
a) This meeting is generally available to anyone.
b) In most cases, it will be preferred that attempts have been made to connect with levels 1 thru 3
prior to the meeting.
5. Interaction with a Licensed Professional Counselor
a) We maintain a list of local professional counselors for marriage, family, substance abuse, etc.
b) Once it is determined that a spiritual guidance issue is being addressed repeatedly, we will at
some point, refer that individual to a licensed professional for outside, ongoing help.
-
For litigation reasons, the word “spiritual guidance” is used instead of the word
“counseling” to distinguish lay and pastoral counsel from that in the secular arena.
